PROJECT SUMMARY

CATS were engaged by the NEWest Alliance early on the TCL Project to carry out various diversified scopes. The works were to enable a major switch of the existing lines onto the new rail lines on a revised alignment between Glen Iris and Cockburn on the Kwinana Freeway. CATS delivered quality whilst maintaining the critical program leading up to the largest blocakade of its kind on the PTA network.

OUR ROLE
  • OLE Footings: Construction of 120 piled mast foundations for the overhead line equipment (OLE).This entailed augering, vibratory piling, pile cage and bolt placement, concrete install and material supply.

  • On-Track Facility Construction: This was to allow safe and critical maintenance access to the permanent rail. The works took place within the tight constrains between the rail and freeway. This included construction of 2m high concrete L shape retaining walls, detailed excavation and backfill, temp work design, cranage, pumping, localised service diversion and sub-base pavement works.

  • Concrete Crash barriers: CATS installed over 300m of concrete insitu crash barrier of various to tie in between new and existing slipform barriers on the freeway.

  • Glen Iris Tunnel Approach: ACO Drains and sheet pile capping
